Holton Lee 5k Relays (9th July)

A great event - well organised by Lytchett Manor Striders. We entered the one team this year - although our leader Paul Hill unfortunately didn’t make it in the end - Lawrence stepped in and did 2 legs for us! Paul I hope we did you proud finishing 8th of the 56 teams! Post race refreshments were BBQ, beer and cakes... hopefully next year we'll have more Harriers teams to join in the fun!

New Forest 10 Mile (10th July) - 773 finishers

New Forest 10

A lovely off road course with a few undulations but nothing too major… it was pretty windy which certainly impacted the times this year! Well done Mr Dave Wilson for winning his age category, and we almost also won the mens team prize (unfortunately the race director had made a mistake when he told is we had won it - oops!)... great to see so many Harriers out, and the sun came out just in time for Darrens post race BBQ for us all to refuel and relax :)

Dorset Invader Half Marathon (Sat 16th July) - 414 finishers

Thanks go to Glenn Batt for this race report "Summer arrived on the morning of the race! A very hot day for the expected tough WSR course. The race was started by a Centurion on horseback and a fair number of participants had entered into the spirit by donning Romanesque costume. The temperatures continued to rise and we weren't disappointed by the toughness of the route. Five Harrier Centurions started and five Harrier Centurions finished."

Frome Half Marathon (Sun 17th July) - 286 finishers

Well done to Glenn for doing what sounds like 2 tough halfs in 2 days (and both sub-2hrs!) on the weekend summer finally arrived with temperatures warming right up! Thanks Glenn for this race report: "Only a 90 minute drive from Bournemouth and easy to get to. There is a mass start for competitors running 5K, 10K and the half. The routes split at two points out on the course. The Frome Half is a very hilly route with more up than down! There is even a King and Queen of the Hill at mile 11 and it is a big hill! Your time up the hill is chip timed as is your 5k split, 10k split and finishing time. The route goes through housing estates and the town centre before becoming rural. The way back brings you back through the town to the start/finish at Frome Football Club. The finishing straight is uphill! The whole event is run on closed traffic free roads and is very well supported all around the course by local residents. Excellent organisation and marshalling. Highly recommended especially if you like a few hills with your half!"
