Ladies July 2016 Race Report

Written by

LITTLEDOWN MARATHON - 3rd July

What a lovely was to start a monthly report, with our very own marathon!  Littledown Harriers can stand very proud of this event.  Greg Hawkins did a grand job as Race Director and from a runner's point of view on the day, it was magnificently successful.  Long may it now continue!  26 and a bit laps does not appeal to a lot of people, but trust me when I say it is a whole lot of fun! Definitely not easy, but a very safe and spectator friendly marathon....so come on ladies... join me next year!!

NEW FOREST 10 MILES - 10TH July

A very popular race in its own right, but this year was extremely "oranged out" as it was one of our Club Champ races.  The weather is usually blistering hot but this year

it was much kinder to us and was also a bit windy which kept us all cool.  A great turnout of ladies and thank you to Jenny Beckett who seemed to be "masterchef" on the barbeque

THE DORSET INVADER HALF AND MARATHON - 16th and 17th July

This was one of "Whitestar Running's" famously tough events and this sure was!! It was located at East Farm in the heart of Dorset. The marathon is hilly 95% trail. The half is a big loop. There was a good selection of aid stations on the way round and their famous "lovestation" packed with everything from melon to cider!!   It was a scorching weekend which made conditions even more tough!!  I haven't been able to find any results but as I was there for the Marathon I can say well done to:-

Julie White

Naomi Bennett

Caroline Horder

Kay Morris

Heather Khoshnevis

Susie Elliott

Becky Hawkins

Becky Sinkinson

We may not have stayed upright throughout, but we did complete this mission!!  I do know some of our ladies did the half on Saturday, but with no results and no one letting me know, then I cannot mention their names!!

July is over and August approaches....and we have a DRRL race on the 21st - Round the Rock 10k.  Last entries are on the 19th but you can enter on the day too.....but don't risk it as it may be full!!  Enjoy all the August races and watch this space for the outcome!
