Ladies June 2016 Race Report

Written by

INDY RUN   - Wednesday 1st June!

You can complete as many, or as few, laps as you like of a 3.28 mile, out and back, course along the beautiful river Thames. Complete one lap and you qualify for the bespoke finishers' medal, or keep going and see how far you can get in the full 6 hours. These events are fully sanctioned by the 100 Marathon Club and for competitors completing 8 laps or more (26.2 miles+) this will count towards your numbers.
There are many of these "film themed"  races throughout the year and each celebrate the annual date on which a particular film was released.  The races are all in the same place at Walton-on-thames, surrey and are great fun if you like laps!!  The medals are gi-normous!!

This was a great trail marathon, also with a half marathon, which took place on the Hampshire/Berkshire border. It took us along the famous long distance walkers footpaths, Wayfarers Walk and Harrow Way, reaching some of the highest points of Hampshire with views across the County....You even got a souvenier Pint glass at the end which you were ablr to fill as many times as you liked with the "Hoppitt" classic ale which was if you do this race next year....make sure the driver is tea total!!
62 Caroline Horder 4.21.38 1st F60
63 Julie White 4.21.38 1st F50
70 Heather Khoshnevis 4.25.44

South Downs Double Marathon: 25th-26th June 2016
Walk, jog or run 53.5-miles along the stunning South Downs Way to the burial place of the first Kings of England
Race to the King is a fully supported 53.5-mile ultramarathon challenge. The breathtaking route starts near Arundel in West Sussex and runs through the South Downs National Park until you reach the climactic finish on the steps of Winchester Cathedral. Whether you are an elite ultra-runner or a weekend walker looking to raise money for charity you will race through some of the finest scenery in the UK with views stretching across Southern England and out to sea.
We had 2 amazing ladies from our club who completed this mission, and whereas I really do not think any time factors have any bearing on the completion, they both did it and had a thoroughly enjoyable time......CAROLINE HORDER AND TRISH COOMBES......An excellent achievement.  Littledown Harriers are very proud to have such strong ladies in our midst!
in the beautiful village of Sydling St.Nicholas. A very, very challenging hilly but beautiful course running through the Sydling and Cerne valleys running around and under the famous Cerne Giant. We had a few ladies from Littledown take part but as yet I have not seen any results, so from the information I have seen on FB (forgive me if I miss anyone out as I dnt know everything!)   Well done to Naomi Bennett, Susie Elliot, Carolyn Bell, Fiona Lucas, Maxine Bennett and Melanie Roberts.  There was also a half marathon on offer so I am not sure who did what, but either way, it is a tough race!
The next Club Champ race is the New Forest 10 on the 10th July, always a popular race and usually fills up fast! At the moment it looks like there are still entries don't miss out
Well  thats all for now.  Keep on running and enjoying the summer!!
