Ladies October Race Report

Written by
OCTOBER LADIES
Once again, this is another busy month with lots to report upon so without further ado. I shall proceed!!!

BOURNEMOUTH MARATHON FESTIVAL - 3rd and 4th October
This was a whole weekend of races - 5k and 10k on the Saturday, with a half and full marathon on the Sunday.  Unfortunately the results do not list anyone as club runners so with 8000 names to scroll through to find any that I may recognise would just not do my eyes or patience any good whatsoever!  I did appeal through facebook and email for those of you who took park to let the captains know...so if you are not listed below, i am sorry, but ...........
10k

CLARENDON WAY MARATHON - 4th Oct.
If you are looking for a marathon which is off road, picturesque and challenging then running the Clarendon is the ultimate. The route takes you from Salisbury to Winchester along the ancient Clarendon Way with a few extra turns here and there to make up a full 26.2 miles. More than 90% is off road, with the trail following country tracks and paths - many of which have not changed since being travelled by the ancient Kings and Queens of England!
71     Julie White             4.00.15       1st F55
157   Naomi Bennett       4.31.31                           (345 finishers)
245   Kay Morris            5.00.34

JERSEY MARATHON    - 4th October
The Race starts  in St Helier and then takes you along country lanes, paved tracks and traffic-controlled roads. An enjoyable challenge for new runners and experienced competitors alike.

ISLE OF WIGHT MARATHON - 11th October
A brand new course (first used 2013) of one lap featuring the much quieter roads on the west of the island
These are the undulating town and rural roads through Cowes, Gurnard, Rew Street, Porchfield, Shalfleet,
Yarmouth, Afton, Willmingham, Thorley, Wellow, Shalfleet, Porchfield, Northwood, Cowes.

A very popular local race which most of you have done sometime in your running career (except me!!)
Just before I list results, A BIG THANKYOU to Fiona Lucas for rescuing and helping Trish Reilly who had a nasty fall en route and had to go to hospital by ambulance.  By the time you are reading this report, we hope that Trish has fully recovered.

CHRISTCHURCH HALF MARATHON PLUS !!!
The scenic route takes you from Stanpit to Mudeford, along Avon Beach and through the Steamer Point Nature Reserve. The routes take in some great sea views for you to enjoy while you run and the 10k and Half are a mix of road and trail sections.  I understand that both events were slightly longer than their stated distances....but atleast it means you get more for your money!!
HALF MARATHON

THE STICKLER
This is a friendly and popular running race organised by the Dorset Doddlers. It features over 1500ft of climbing across the three peaks of Dorset: Okeford Hill Beacon, Hod Hill and Hambledon Hill (including the infamous and self named ‘Stickle Path’).  This was also one of our club champ races so did attract a good "orange" turnout.
104      Hannah Collier                             1.26.17
199      Tracey Lander                              1.37.03
232      Kristina Varley                              1.39.40
