Ladies August 2015 Race Report

Written by
This was a DRRL and Club Champ race so there was a good "orange" turnout and some great results from a very hot and "undulating" otherwords...hilly...race!  A popular race, probably due to the abundance of free Honeybun cakes at the end and a Tech T shirt, not a bad reward for the price of running a few miles!!

SALISBURY 54321 -  9th August
The Salisbury 5-4-3-2-1 walk, or trail run is an event suited to all the family, with a choice of distances  from  5km  to  the  more  demanding  42k/Marathon,  or  even  a  50k  Ultra  Marathon.  The  routes  will  be  over  footpaths,  bridleways  and  quiet  country  roads  in  the  Salisbury Wessex  area.  The  walk/trail  runs,  will  take  you  past  a  variety  of  sites  of  historical  and scientific interest and through Country Estates not usually open to the general public  This has been made possible by the kind permission of several landowners along the route and including English Heritage.

Not quite sure why this would be called a "doddle" as it far from being such!!  Trust me...I know!!!!! This is most definitely a beautiful 32 miles, but don't be fooled.  A very popular walk/run and I suppose you should all atleast challenge yourself the once, and then decide whether to do it again!!  It is a full Coastal route from Weymouth Esplanade Clock to Swanage Following South West Coast Path, passing through: Osmington Mills, Ringstead, Lulworth, Kingston, St Aldhelms Head & Durlston Country Park.  Be prepared to climb and descend like you never have!!  We had 5 "hardy ladies" who went and conquered!!  Time is actually totally irelevant on this one, as finishing (in one piece) is the achievement!!
Caroline Horder           8.04
Julie White                   8.04
Naomi Bennett             8.05
Maxine Bennett            ?
Fiona Lucas                   ?
This is a very scenic route that takes you all along the Thames Tow path from Kingston Upon Thames to Putney bridge and back.  It is mostly trail path and flat.  There is also a half marathon at the same time.  This race takes place 3 times during the year, March, August and November.
103rd     Heather Khoshnevis        4.06.52      1st F55
Well thats the extent of my knowledge for August....remember...if I wasn't there...or you didn't tell me about it...then I didn't know!! me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
This weekend is The Beast, which is a Club Champ race....probably too late now to enter if you haven't already!  Our very own Littledown 5 on the 13th September is the next DRRL race, but WE NEED YOU AS MARSHALLS NOT RUNNERS!! (If you can help just turn up at 8:45am on the Sunday morning at the rear of the LDC in the cricket pavillion - Race Secretary)  The Hoburne 5m race is another of our Club Champ races which takes place on 27th September......entries are usually fine on the day...but enter in advance to avoid any disappointment!!
Thats all for now....enjoy a warmer September than August...and see you at the races!
