Mens July 2015 Race Report

Written by

July 2015

Results for this month are:

Portland 10 (Sunday 5th July) - 224 finishers

A scenic but tough race, with a 3.6 mile slog back up from the lighthouse. Well done to those that raced - a good turnout from the men, and we had a strong team again for the Dorset Road Race League with a solid 3rd place only behind Bournemouth AC and Poole AC. Quite warm conditions on the day, though thankfully not as hot as it could have been, though we had a frustratingly strong headwind for the downhill sections preventing us from really opening up going downhill!

Position   Time (Chip)
17 Mark Packer 01:04:18
18 Dave Wilson 01:04:24
21 Steve Williams 01:05:16
24 Mark Goodwin 01:05:51
26 Luke Dowsett 01:07:22 PB
34 Andy Mercer 01:08:24
119 Paul Manning 01:24:02
131 Guy Burdett 01:26:00
168 Dave Randall 01:33:06

New Forest 10 (Sunday 12th July) - 876 finishers

A fantastic performance and turnout - with our men picking up the first team prize!! I hear we can all thank Dave Wilson for this one being in the Club Championship - what  a lovely scenic and (mainly) offroad course... and fast and flat(ish) too, as can be seen by all the fantastic PBs we achieved! Good running conditions on the day as the recent heat gave way to cloud and drizzle (thats more like it for a British summer!).

Holton Lee Summary Relays - 5k (Saturday 18th July)

We had some great summer weather for the Holton Lee relays (I for one got a little bit burnt!). It is a lovely course through the heath and the relays were followed by burgers, cakes and beer!!

Our Littledown teams did well with 8th, 13th, 17th, and 27th out of 33 teams on the day.. the top two teams (not Littledown) had average 5k times all below 18mins!!

Special mentions go to Dan Gilbert for running two 5ks - farther than he’d run before, and to Mike Neal for doing a speedy 5k walk despite his injury.

Let’s hope Lytchett Manor Striders put on the event again next year!

Littledown Harrier Mass Bournemouth Parkrun (Saturday 25th July) - 322 finishers
