Ladies June 2015 Race Report

Written by
Cork is a city of hills and valleys. Established on the low-lying islands around Washington Street and St Patrick's Street, the suburbs rise to fill the surrounding hills to the north and south. To the west, the Lee Valley provides some flat stretches, while to the east the harbour estuary also offers some flat relief.  This was a great weekend away for a few harriers and apart from lots of fun, they all had an extremely great run as the results below will show......The "Sea of Orange" certainly left its mark in Cork!
281   Tracey Lander                      3.37.13       2nd F45
318   Kathy Fooks                          3.41.15       1st F55
616   Amanda Shepheard              4.01.04       3rd F45

1033 Fiona Lucas                           5.06.51                           (1132 finishers)
The race starts in Princetown, and follows a route passing through Dartmeet, Poundsgate, Newbridge, Ashburton, Buckland in the Moor, Widecombe in the Moor, and Postbridge, before making its way back to finish in Princetown.
You'll experience everything Dartmoor can offer, from stunning views, beautiful scenery, wild ponies, unpredictable weather and of course those infamous hills! Make no mistake, the course is not easy, it's a great way to test you both mentally and physically!.........but all that hard work is rewarded with a truly fun and mad evening party where you will not be able to sit still....oh....and also a great sense of achievement of a very challenging race!!!
72       Heather Khoshnevis    5.20.49    2nd F55

This was the first Yeovil marathon and the organisation was good.  It was a 2 lap course which started and finished at the athletics track.  It was described as "fairly flat with small inclines"  I would say "undulating but nothing majorly steep".  The course was mainly through country lanes and villages, very similar but not as hilly as North Dorset Marathon.
79      Heather Khoshnevis          3.45.14     1st F55
113    Naomi Bennett                  4.02.37                       (221 finishers)
This took place on a Friday evening and seems to have attracted many Harriers.  Club names were  not listed so I just had to list the names that I have recognised from previous races as we have had many new members, many of whom I have yet to meet, so, I apologise if you have been missed off....please let me know and you  can be added !
36th     Helen Gilbert              45.18     2nd Female :-)
61st     Tracy Sherwood          47.46
65th     Kristina Byrne             48/11
100th   Carmel Ryan               51.17
189th   Sarah Heath                57.02
275th   Mary Cusens               66.07                    (318 finishers)
This is always a Friday evening race so makes a change from a Sunday morning.  It was both a DRRL and Club Championship race and it was great to see so many of our ladies attended, and raced very well.  The ladies team came 5th for the league on the night , and we are still in 4th place overall which is very good as it is the usual suspects above us, BAC, Poole Runners and PAC.....I wonder if we can top any of them by the end of the year? :-)
92nd       Hannah Collier             43.06
137th      Helen Gilbert               45.25

391st      Julie Bassett              1.03.48
392nd     Josie Harris                1.03.48          (425 finishers)
The South Downs Marathon is a scenicpoint to point race over the beautiful South Downs.
The route starts in the grounds of Slindon College just outside Chichester and and runs via the Monarch Way, to the South Downs Way. From there and follows the National Trail west towards the Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

Giants Head marathon is a challenging, hilly, off road 26.2 mile race starting and finishing in Sydling St.Nicholas Dorset. Running in the breath taking scenery of the Sydling and Cerne valleys. You will run around the world famous Cerne Giant. Great tshirt and unique medal for all finishers.
106th   Naomi Bennett        5.10.10       (332 finishers)
Yet another epic month ends....Excellent running for everyone and great to see so many new names amongst the regulars!  Well done to everyone.  This weekend, Sunday 5th July is the Portland 10 which is a DRRL race.  I think you can still enter online but I cant seem to find out if there are entries on the day! sorry!  The next Club Championship race is New Forest 10 on the 12th July.  This is always a very popular race and often fills up quickly.  There are still online entries, but again, im not sure about "on the day" if you want to run this race....enter now!!    Also, thinking ahead, 2nd August, Sturminster Half marathon is also a DRRL and Club Champ race.  You can still enter this online, and possibly on the day, but why leave it to chance  when you know you want to do it!!
Well goodbye June 2015 and Hello July 2015 and summer has arrived!!  See you all at the races!
