Ladies January 2015 Race Report

Written by
JANUARY LADIES

We are well into the New Year now and the DRRL has already begun!  We started the New Year on 1st January (obviously!) with the first race to get our DRRL points started!  Seems a long time ago now, but I seem to remember it was a bit cold to start but we all warmed up once we got going and we did manage to have a ladies team.  5 of us were present, so not a bad start to the year but unfortunately we were 7th ladies team which puts us right at the bottom of the 1st division so far!!!  BUT LET'S NOT GET WORRIED YET!  This is only the beginning and we shall rise!!

JUNCTION QUARTER (BROADSTONE ) DRRL NO. 1 Details

111st     Michelle Carpenter                49.10
127th     Mandi Wales                        50.16
140th     Heather Khoshnevis              50.48
268th     Sarah Heath                        1.03.27
276th     Sarah Ngugi                       1.04.31         (303 finishers)

The next 2 races that I know of where Im sure some of you were, was the Somerley 10k and the Hellrunner.  Unfortuately, I cannot find any results for Somerley and the Hellrunner results do not list which running club and there are many many names to trawl through, so sorry but I can not report on these 2 races!

ROK THE STONES MARATHON

'The Rok the Stones Trail Marathon is set in the beautiful Chew Valley , about 10 miles from Bristol and Bath. The Stone Circles behind the church form the 3rd largest collection of prehistoric standing stones in England and include the second largest circle (after Avebury). The route consists of three different and testing loops from Stanton Drew Village Hall, which is in a small village in this quiet and beautiful corner of north-east Somerset, about 10 miles from Bristol and Bath'. Julie White and Naomi Bennett both attacked this marathon and finished in 6.45 hrs, but they have both said they would return as they had a lot of fun and it was beautiful and muddy!  So if you would like further information on  this event, then I'm sure they will be happy to tell you!

A very short report this month as I am not aware of any other races that any of you took part in. I do now have an email address to which you can let me know of any races you have done outside of our Club Champ races and the DRRL which are always interesting to report This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

A reminder that the next DRRL and Club Champ race is on the 1st February - the Blackmore Vale Half Marathon.  You can still enter this online through Runners World or postal entries must be received by 31st January.  There are no entries on the day.  So come on ladies, lets get our DRRL position improved on this one...we can do it!

Lytchett 10m race on the 15th February is the next DRRL and Club Champ race so get your entries sorted for this one too!!

YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!!!  :-)

That's all for now....  Well done to all you racey ladies this month........see you at Blackmore Vale... Captain Hev
