Mens September 2017 Race Report

Written by

September 2017

The Beast (3rd September) - 409 finishers

Abysmal conditions with the rain meant this year the race fully lived up to its name - very slippery and muddy in places, but also great fun running through the beautiful Dorset countryside. The men won the team prize (top 3 runners) on the day - well done all who turned out on the day despite the weather!

New Forest Marathon & Half (10th September)

Thanks to our marathon man Graham Malt for another quality race report: "All routes started and finished from New Park Showground, Brockenhurst and wind through the heart of the New Forest National Park. The multi-terrain courses offered some of the most scenic running experiences in the country, with a blend of forest enclosures, open roads, far reaching views and of course, the famous New Forest ponies!"

Littledown 5 (17th September) - 280 finishers

Enough marshals meant we could enter a Mens team into the race - and what a privilege to run the race with such great support from our fellow runners. A brilliant run from our very own Craig Palmer saw the Harriers chalk up a win - and as a team for the Dorset Road Race League we managed a 3rd place on home turf - well done all who ran and marshalled!

Purbeck Marathon (17th September)

Thanks Graham Malt for submitting a Purbeck race report: "The Purbeck Marathon takes place in Swanage, Purbeck and the Jurassic Coast which has spectacular history, landscapes and views. The course with around 3000 feet of climbs provides a predominately off-road Marathon that is both challenging and rewarding. The course is closer to 27 miles"
